My Testimonial
While playing indoor soccer in 2003 I pulled a hamstring or that’s what I thought. The physio worked on my hamstring, gluteals and lower back before giving up and referring me to a sports physician. I had pain spreading down my leg and it was only getting worse.
After receiving cortisone injections in both my lumber discs the pain was masked for about a year, then came back. I then tried Chiropractic, Osteopathic and Physio (again) treatments over a number of years. Needless to say I had no joy and after a few friends told me about Bikram yoga I gave it a bash.
I signed up for the 10 day intro pass and practiced every day for 13 days, doing 2 classes a day most days. By the 13th day the pain was gone which was lucky as I left the following day for a 3 month overseas holiday.
When I say the pain disappeared , that’s what it did… it vanished. Since then I practice as often as I can. Sometimes when I’m on a film job doing 13hr days I can’t practice for 3 months but as soon as it’s over I’ll go back to a regular practice of 3-7 times a week.
I’ve always been involved in team sports and surfed for years but I’ve never felt as fit, flexible, toned and well balanced as I do now. My regular yoga practice has fixed a decade long ankle injury, sore knees and is opening up my stiff shoulders (great for surfing). It’s a wonderful injury preventative practice for life.
In saying that, if you’re active you’ll get injuries. It’s a natural part of life. At the moment I’ve got a niggling sciatic (I think) pain and a shoulder injury from a surfing wipe-out that I’m working on and I’ll let you know how it goes or should I say, when it goes.

I did my first Bikram Yoga Class on May 4th., 2009. I started doing doubles right away! I am doing 730 Bikram Yoga Classes in 365 days for charity (The Lupus foundation). I am currently traveling around U.S. doing doubles. It is great! I feel great!!! I plan on going to Teacher’s Training in the Spring of 2010. If our paths don’t cross before then, see you there!
Namaste,
