About Bikram Yoga
Founded by Bikram Choudhury, “Bikram’s Beginning Yoga Class is a twenty-six asana series designed to scientifically warm and stretch muscles, ligaments and tendons, in the order in which they should be stretched.
Bikram Yoga’s twenty-six posture exercises systematically move fresh, oxygenated blood to one hundred percent of your body, to each organ and fiber, restoring all systems to healthy working order, just as Nature intended. Proper weight, muscle tone, vibrant good health, and a sense of well-being will automatically follow.” From bikramyoga.com.
Bikram’s Yoga class is practiced at a recommended minimum temperature of 40.5C degrees (105F) and 40% humidity. It’s the original hot yoga and it’s tough, but works a treat!

What I’m building here is the first map of all the Bikram Yoga worldwide studios. I’ve listed plenty of the studios already but there’s still more to add and I’m plugging away every day until it’s up to date. So where does the challenge fit in?
In the world of Bikram yoga there are 30 day and 60 day challenges. For some, just doing one class is a challenge and if you haven’t done one before, you wont appreciate what it takes. It’s different for every person and usually every class.
For yogi’s who want to get more bend for their buck, set aside 90 min a day, 7 days a week for 30 or 60 days. Some studios offer the challenge at 6 days/week, some allow you miss a class if you do a double the next day.
The reason we do the challenge is to reach another level with our practice. By doing it every day you will be working a multitude of areas. This is strictly “you” time and just setting aside that 90 min a day is commendable. Remember this is a mind/body workout. You’ll be building great mental strength and with focus, a quietening of the mind. You’ll get more depth out of your postures and push through any blockages caused by injury, bad posture or just being a lazy pie eater.
